U-15 starts formalization of organization

May 30, 2012

The organization representing 15 of Canada's most research-intensive universities plans to become a more formalized group and also a "more forceful" voice, says Suzanne Corbeil, U-15's inaugural executive director. Federally funded research will continue to drive the group's advocacy work, says Corbeil, who notes that research is closely aligned with international collaboration, the quality of education, student engagement, and the university experience. She says U-15 would focus on issues of interest to its community and its voice would "complement" the messaging of AUCC. The U-15 institutions are uAlberta, UBC, uCalgary, Dal, uLaval, McGill, McMaster, uManitoba, uMontréal, uOttawa, Queen's, uSask, uToronto, uWaterloo, and Western U. University Affairs
