Iroquois Caucus signs Nation-to-Nation Trade and Commerce Protocol Agreement

The Iroquois Caucus has officially signed the Nation-to-Nation Trade and Commerce Protocol Agreement, which will strengthen the inter-nation partnerships and trade relationships between six First Nations. The six communities that signed the agreement were the Six Nations of the Grand River, Mohawks of Akwesasne, Mohawks of Kahnawa:ke, Mohawks of Kanehsata:ke, Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte, and the Oneida Nation of the Thames. By signing the agreement, the signatories committed to several efforts, including sharing knowledge, resources, and nest practices; promoting educational and workforce exchanges; and respecting the sovereignty, jurisdiction, and traditions of each community. “Through this partnership, we are restoring traditional trade pathways and creating new opportunities for growth and prosperity across the Haudenosaunee Confederacy,” said Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Grand Chief Leonard Lazore. The agreement has also resulted in the formation of the Iroquois Caucus Trade Alliance, which will advance economic sovereignty and cooperative development among the nations.
