The construction of Nįtélazёtúë Elementary School in the Northern Lights School Division has officially been completed. The elementary school is located next to Dene High School and was designed to accommodate nearly 500 K-6 students. The Government of Saskatchewan states that the school was designed in a manner that “celebrates Indigenous cultural elements and reflects the natural beauty of the surrounding area” of La Loche. It features enhanced cultural and learning spaces, as well as an expanded gymnasium. The school will see its first students begin classes in the facility this September. “The completion of the new elementary school in La Loche is a significant milestone for students, families and the entire community,” said SK Education Minister Everett Hindley. “This facility will provide students with a safe and positive space to learn and we are proud to continue building infrastructure that strengthens education in northern Saskatchewan.”
