The Government of Alberta has proposed legislation that would streamline AB Advanced Education’s professional governance legislation into one act. Currently, AB says that Advanced Education administers nine pieces of legislation that support 28 regulations governing 22 regulatory organizations. AB says that consolidating the acts would ensure that all professional regulatory organizations are held to the same standard of practice, improve fairness and transparency, and give these organizations more self-governing authority. “The passage of this act will be greatly beneficial for both regulatory organizations and Albertans,” said AB Minister of Advanced Education Rajan Sawhney.
