Athabasca University and the University of Northern British Columbia have recently announced new and renamed spaces on their campuses that honour Indigenous peoples. AU has opened the Linda Bull Memorial Garden that community members can use for reflection and contemplation of the impacts of residential schools, as well as the Bertha Clark-Jones OC Art Gallery, which features an installation by Métis Elder, artist, journalist, and AU honorary doctorate recipient Terry Lusty as its first exhibit. At the University of Northern British Columbia, the Rotunda Gallery has been renamed the Robert Frederick Gallery in honour of the late Robert Frederick, who was a Lheidli T’enneh carver, storyteller, and educator.
