BC announces $3M fund to train more practical nurses

The Government of British Columbia has announced a $3M bursary fund to increase the number of nursing staff in the province. The bursary will provide health-care assistants who are registered in an access to practical nursing (APN) program at a qualifying institution with $10K to cover program costs. Students who receive the funding will be required to sign a return-of-service agreement that will see them working in the health-care system following their graduation. Institutions with qualifying programs include Coast Mountain College, Nicola Valley Institute of Technology, North Island College, and Vancouver Community College.
