CMTN to launch new mobile marine classroom

Coast Mountain College has received funds from the Government of British Columbia to purchase a boat that will serve as a mobile marine classroom for students and staff in the college’s applied coastal ecology program. The mobile classroom will enable students to practice their skills with coastal natural resources management, ecosystem restoration, and environmental monitoring. It will help students prepare for careers in sustainability, ecology, and fish and wildlife conservation. The boat has been named Na Malgsa Aks, which means “the story the water tells” in the Laxyuubm Ts’msyen language. “We are delighted to have this new marine classroom. This has allowed us to expand our unique science programs using the latest marine technology,” said CMTN acting VP, academic, students and international, Titi Kunkel.
