ECU students stage walkout to protest plan to raise international tuition fees

Students at Emily Carr University have staged a walkout to protest a plan to raise tuition fees by 30% for new international students. Tuition for returning international students will reportedly be raised by 10%, while domestic fees will rise by 2%. Students walked out of their classes on Wednesday to protest the tuition hikes and call on the government to provide more funding to the university. “We are calling on the BC government to intervene immediately to pause this cash grab and invest in Emily Carr University,” said Kashish Hukku Jani of the Emily Carr Students’ Union. “We need to stop financing University deficits from our most marginalized members.” CBC| City News Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
