In a recent article for Inside Higher Ed, Adam Fix discusses the strategies academics can use to translate their academic experience to business language when applying for jobs outside of the academy. Many academics face a “language barrier” when it comes to the business world, writes Fix. Fix provides a “translation” table that provides examples of how to discuss academic achievements such as completing a dissertation or publishing in scholarly journals in a more business-appropriate manner.
