McMaster teaching, research assistants begin strike

CUPE 3906, which represents teaching and research assistants at McMaster University, went on strike on Monday after they were unable to reach an agreement with the university. CHCH reports that the union is willing to return to the bargaining table if the university makes an offer on at least one of three key issues: Higher wages, job security, and protection against tuition increases. Global News reports that McMaster will remain open with classes continuing as usual, but that the university has warned the campus community of possible delays when entering the campus.
