Memorial University’s Marine Institute has announced a new graduate diploma in Marine Studies (Aquaculture). The program will provide training in a variety of aquaculture topics, such as finfish and shellfish aquaculture, animal health, fish nutrition and feeding practice, and engineering technology and systems operation. The program will begin in Fall 2022, and two seats every year will be reserved for Indigenous students. “The aquaculture industry is expanding as the demand for food proteins increases worldwide,” said academic director/graduate officer for the program Dr Jillian Westcott. “[I]t is essential to offer a program that increases the number of highly trained practitioners in the field.” Memorial Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
