Mount Royal University, the University of Regina, and the University of Manitoba are hosting and supporting Ukrainian refugees on their campuses as the war with Russia rages on. MRU is housing around 100 refugees in its family-sized townhouse residences and has provided them with free passes to the recreation centre and access to the university’s library. URegina has been hosting 230 Ukrainians as they work towards securing permanent accommodations in Regina. Some have found work at the university. As part of the Scholars at Risk network, UManitoba has hosted 20 Ukrainian scholars and is providing funding to allow them to continue their research and instruction in Winnipeg. The university is reportedly considering hiring some of the scholars on a permanent basis after their contract is complete.
