Niagara reaps sustainability certification for teaching winery

Niagara College’s Teaching Winery is among the first in Ontario to be added to a select list of Sustainable Winegrowing Ontario Certified Wineries and Vineyards. Under the new SWO Certified program that was unveiled at the start of the month, Niagara has received certification for demonstrating a commitment to integrating sustainable practices “from soil to shelf.” “[The SWO certification] will allow the College to demonstrate continual improvement for sustainability on campus, while also providing a platform for strengthening internal and external partnerships,” said Niagara Sustainability Program and Outreach Coordinator Amber Schmucker. “Programs like SWO Certified allow us to build capacity for sustainability on campus and enhance student learning opportunities in and out of the classroom.” Niagara Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
