NWT PSE Act, regulations come into force

In the Northwest Territories, the Post-Secondary Education Act and four sets of corresponding regulations have officially come into force. The new act establishes how colleges, universities, and private training institutions are accredited; formalizes a quality assurance system for program accreditation; and enables transfer and other educational movement across jurisdictions. The legislation is an important milestone in the territorial government’s work to build a comprehensive postsecondary education system. “This legislation will help ensure that colleges, universities and private training schools meet high standards,” stated NWT Minister of Education, Culture, and Employment RJ Simpson, “and that students going through the education system can feel confident they’re receiving the best training possible.” NWT Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
