The Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU), which represents faculty, counsellors, and librarians from the province’s 24 public colleges, has said that it will strike on Friday if the College Employer Council (CEC) refuses to enter binding interest arbitration. An open letter issued by OPSEU says that if CEC agrees to binding interest arbitration by March 18th, negotiations would be ended without a strike or lockout. CEC has responded by saying it preferred final offer selection arbitration, which would see an arbitrator picking the more reasonable offer from those offered in November. “Our members are fighting for the best education for students,” said union bargaining team chair JP Hornick. “We haven’t made any unreasonable demands, and everything we have asked for is easily achievable.” CBC| CTV News| TB NewsWatch| OPSEU Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
