Part-time support workers in ON to take strike vote

Ontario college part-time support workers, represented by Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will be taking a strike vote next week. OPSEU represents about 13,000 part-time support staff across ON’s 24 public college campuses. Key issues include pay and paid sick days. The OPSEU bargaining team lead Noor Askandar told Toronto Today that the vote was called because the College Employer Council has refused to come to the bargaining table. CEC CEO Graham Lloyd disputed the allegations and said that it remains “committed to bargaining in good faith.” Workers have reportedly been without a collective agreement for over a year and a half.
