Postsecondary institutions release labour updates

Several postsecondary institutions have released labour updates. NSCAD University has reached a four-year tentative agreement with the Faculty Union of NSCAD Unit II, and a ratification vote is expected to be held as soon as possible. A strike has ended at Durham College after around 90 food service workers ratified a new agreement that includes a retroactive wage increase, a boost to dental benefits, and paid sick days. At McMaster University, a three-week-long strike has come to a conclusion after the university and the union, representing nearly 3,000 teaching assistants and research assistants, reached a tentative agreement over the weekend. CUPE local 3906 will present the offer to its membership for a ratification vote today. “Reaching a tentative agreement with our CUPE members is welcome news for everyone involved,” said McMaster Provost Susan Tighe.
