CBC reports that a potential buyer has been found for the three Quebec colleges – M College of Canada, CDE College and CCSQ College – that filed for creditor protection in January. An agreement in principle has reportedly been made with the buyer that would allow the schools to reopen if approved. McCarthy Tétrault LLP partner Alain Tardif said that the colleges’ unpaid tuition fees and refund requests is estimated to be around $11M, but could be more than that. Tardif said that the three priorities are to enable students who were close to graduation to complete their studies, allow those who want to start or continue their studies to attend school without greater cost to them, and refund those students who will not be coming to Canada.
