Queen’s University and Lakeridge Health have announced the launch of a training program to address the shortage of family physicians in southeastern Ontario communities. Queen’s School of Medicine and Lakeridge Health will be integrating medical student and resident training with the aim of graduating community-focused physicians. The collaboration will also establish an admissions mechanism that prioritizes candidates who are committed to becoming primary care physicians, considers how candidates will fit into the region’s communities, and gives students the opportunity to interact with these communities from the beginning of their program.
