Sheridan College and the City of Brampton recently co-hosted a two-day summit on systemic barriers faced by international students. Participants included international students, community agencies, advocates, journalists, educational professionals, and politicians from all levels of government. At the event, participants discussed issues such as international students being pushed to exploitative jobs in the face of high tuition costs and a 20-hour work limit. The recommendations collected during the summit are being compiled into the Brampton International Student Charter. A draft of the charter is expected to be presented in the fall.
