Military law experts are surprised that the death of four cadets at the Royal Military College is receiving a summary investigation (SI) rather than a board of inquiry, reports CBC. An SI is a form of internal military investigation used after the death of a member where a single officer handles the case, and military law experts told CBC that high-profile non-combat deaths are usually dealt with using a board of inquiry. A spokesperson for the college stated that no changes have been made to the infrastructure on Point Frederick at this time, as it is awaiting final recommendations and reports from the summary investigation.
