As part of a larger expansion of medical school education, the Government of Ontario has announced that it will be moving forward with Ryerson University’s School of Medicine in Brampton. The university completed an official Letter of Intent earlier in March and will now move onto the next phase of development in the multi-year planning process. The university will work with Brampton to determine a location for the school and aims to open its doors for Fall 2025. The provincial expansion of medical school education will see several schools of medicine receive new undergraduate and postgraduate seats: the University of Toronto’s new Scarborough Academy of Medicine and Integrated Health; the Queen’s-Lakeridge Health Campus; the Northern Ontario School of Medicine; Western University; McMaster University; the University of Ottawa; and, when it opens, the Ryerson School of Medicine.
