SCN announces $19.5M in funding for 32 regenerative medicine research projects, clinical trials

Canada’s Stem Cell Network (SCN) recently announced a $19.5M investment in 32 regenerative medicine research projects and clinical trials through the Horizon awards and other funding. The awards fund research that focuses on regenerative medicine challenges to treat health issues such as multiple sclerosis, cardiovascular disease, type 1 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, and muscular degeneration. Projects include a Université de Montréal project focusing on treating blood cancers with stem cells, a University of Alberta project on using self-islets to potentially cure diabetes, and a University of Regina project focused on how stem cells could help treat injuries.
