Security guard at UBCO dies of injuries after assault by university worker

A campus security guard for the University of British Columbia Okanagan campus has died of injuries after being assaulted by a university worker on the weekend. The perpetrator was taken to hospital and is in custody under the Mental Health Act. “We are devastated that something like this would happen on our campus. My heart and my thoughts, and those of everyone at UBCO, go to the family,” said UBCO Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal Lesley Cormack. Cormack said that this was an isolated incident and that no ongoing risk is posed to campus safety. UBCO| CBC Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
