Severe storm damage forces Algonquin to cancel class for remainder of week

A severe storm over the weekend caused damage at postsecondary institutions in Ontario, including power outages at several institutions. Algonquin College’s Ottawa campus has canceled classes and work placements until May 27th. Algonquin President Claude Brulé said that the institution is receiving regular updates from Hydro Ottawa and the City of Ottawa and will provide updates to students and staff as soon as possible. Carleton University is inviting students who have been affected by the storm to come to campus to study in reserved rooms, use showers, and charge their electronics.
