SK Budget 2022-23: New funds announced for nurse training seats, renewal projects

The Government of Saskatchewan has announced its 2022-23 Budget, which includes a variety of investments specific to the postsecondary education sector. The budget will invest $740.3M in the sector – an increase of $5.6M over last year – and includes dedicated funds to expand the number of nurse training seats to 150. Postsecondary institutions will receive over $680M in operating and capital grants, while almost $38M will go towards providing financial supports for students. Highlights of the budget include $4M for Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Saskatoon Campus Renewal Project, a $2M investment into the modernization of the student loans system, and $1.3M for the regional colleges’ and Dumont Technical Institute’s enterprise resource planning and student information system.
