Students turn to shelters, face scam attempts during hunt for housing in face of shortage

Many students in Canada are struggling to find housing in time for the Fall term. CTV News and Castanet report that universities such as Université de Moncton, the University of Prince Edward Island, and UBC Okanagan are facing high numbers of students who are still in need of affordable housing for the Fall term. Several students have faced rental scams, reports the Toronto Star that have left them short thousands of dollars and without a place to stay. The Financial Post reports that some students in large metropolitan centres have been forced to turn to shelters due to the lack of supply and high rents.
