Trent University has launched an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science in Data Science. The BSc enables students to put theory into practice by applying their knowledge to experiential learning opportunities. Students will have the opportunity to engage with real-world applications and will work with faculty to create and evaluate data science solutions from real-world datasets. Students in the program will also be required to choose an interdisciplinary focus area and must complete four credits in their area of choice. “The goal is to bring students closer to how the whole process comes together in a work environment, where they have to pull the raw data, clean it and then analyze it using a variety of techniques,” said Trent Chair of the Department of Computer Science Dr Richard Hurley.
