The University of British Columbia has received nearly $1.3M over 24 months in federal funding for their project PROmoting Early Childhood Outside (PRO-ECO). The project will research the effectiveness of outdoor play intervention in partnership with ten early learning and child care sites across Greater Vancouver. The end goal is to create a locally guided and sustainable way of enhancing outdoor play environments which can be scaled to early learning and child care centres across Canada. “Some children aren’t able to have as many outdoor play opportunities as others, making child care a very important venue to help even this gap,” said UBC Associate Professor Dr Mariana Brussoni.
