UManitoba dental school to offer free oral health care

The University of Manitoba’s Dr Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry has received a grant from Health Canada to offer free oral health care for eligible dental patients. The funding will ensure that Manitobans who are facing barriers can access dental care, while at the same time providing dental students with opportunities to improve their clinical and interpersonal skills. The grant will cover the co-pays for patients enrolled in the Canadian Dental Care Plan and cover 100% of the costs for non-insured patients. “Dental students also need a certain amount of diverse experiences and treatments in order to become better prepared for private practice,” said Dr Gerald Niznick College of Dentistry Dean Anastasia Kelekis-Cholakis.
