Western, JCRC in Uganda launch partnership to solve global health issues

Western University and the Joint Clinical Research Centre (JCRC) in Kampala, Uganda have launched a strategic partnership that focuses on solving challenging global health issues. The Western delegation, which was led by Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry Dean Dr John Yoo, visited Uganda to formalize the collaboration. The partnership will focus on issues such as HIV drug resistance, and JCRC plans to establish a cell and gene therapy centre that will work on health challenges such as sickle cell disease and HIV. The Western delegation also visited Makerere University College of Health Sciences and Mbarara University of Science and Technology.
