Western University has received a $10M donation from entrepreneur and financier Ron Schmeichel to support the university’s entrepreneurship training. In honour of the donation, Western will name the new entrepreneurship and innovation building the Ronald D Schmeichel Building for Entrepreneurship and Innovation. The building, which is scheduled to be complete in Fall 2023, will house Western’s entrepreneurship programs, incubators, accelerator programs, and networks. Students from all academic disciplines will be able to use the space to develop their ideas. “Students, with a seed of an idea, will be able to find – from faculty, staff and other students – the kind of expertise that will allow their business or product concept to flourish into new commercial ventures,” said Western President Alan Shepard.
