Yukon University has submitted an application to join Universities Canada, in a bid to gain further acceptance within the academic community. YukonU President Lesley Brown told CBC that the institution has applied for membership with Universities Canada in order to gain additional access to funding for students. Brown further noted that YukonU could bring a unique northern voice to the table. “We want to be part of the voice of Universities Canada when there are discussions about the role of universities and the role of education in helping to solve some of the most pressing issues in Canada,” said Brown. CBC reports that the application is currently under review.
