Okanagan College has announced a new project that will make hiring and training first year apprentices easier for regional employers. The project has received $3M in funding from the Government of Canada’s Apprenticeship Service to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) who hire first-year apprentices. “Employers play a key role in our training and certification system, but in today’s economy, it can be difficult to find the additional resources to offer apprenticeship training and to build our regional workforce,” says Stephen Speers, Okanagan dean of trades and apprenticeship. “This program helps address that challenge.” Okanagan Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
