UManitoba professor receives $3.5M funding boost for traumatic brain injury research

University of Manitoba professor and Health Sciences Centre neurosurgeon Dr Frederick Zeiler will be receiving a $3.5M funding boost to research personalized treatments for those who have had a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Zeiler will focus how factors such as blood flow, oxygen, and nutrient delivery may impact treatment. Manitoba Public Insurance has contributed $2M to the project, while UManitoba has contributed $1.5 million. “This is kind of a ground-up rebuild in terms of how we approach traumatic brain injury care and how we approach research and innovation for TBI,” said Zeiler. “The hope is that in the long term … we’re going to see some tangible results that make real world changes in bedside care for these patients.” CBC Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
