The Government of Canada and Government of Alberta have both recently provided funding to postsecondary institutions to support educational programs and initiatives for women. Mount Saint Vincent University and Seneca College have received funding from the federal government’s Women’s Employment Readiness pilot program. MSVU will be providing pre-employment skills development to women from Atlantic First Nations communities, while Seneca will use $2M to support career advancement, pivoting, and more for women whose jobs have been threatened by digital disruption. The Government of Alberta is providing $400K to Bow Valley College, $400K to NorQuest College, and $200K to Yellowhead Tribal College to support bursaries for women pursuing STEM programs. Bursaries will cover the cost of tuition and fees and pay for other services students need to be able to complete their studies.
