Acadia staff say four-day workweek improving mental health, quality of life

Acadia University is allowing some staff to work four days a week this summer after a successful pilot program. Last year, most of the university’s full-time administrative staff participated in a pilot program where they worked a four-day workweek, without changes to their benefits or pay. “Ninety-seven per cent said it had a positive impact on their mental health and also their emotional well-being, and it also impacted their quality of life,” said Acadia Professor Rebecca Casey. Senior administrators are reportedly omitted from the program and will follow a five-day workweek through the summer; staff will return to a five-day workweek in the fall, when students return to campus.
