AVC relaunches Chinook Project to provide free essential veterinary care in host communities

The University of Prince Edward Island’s Atlantic Veterinary College has relaunched its Chinook Project, which provides free essential veterinary care for dogs to PEI communities. In the past, communities invited the Chinook Project to set up a temporary clinic to address veterinary needs, but the program was put on hold due to COVID-19 restrictions. The program’s relaunch will see veterinary needs being met once again, with a clinic set up in June in Port Hope Simpson. Volunteer veterinarians and technicians will be joined by up to five fourth-year veterinary students in staffing the clinic, giving students a chance to gain practical experience.
