Cégep de Jonquière formally celebrated the inauguration of its Centre de la petite enfance (CPE) last Thursday. The centre will have space for 15 children aged 18 months and older, with the children of cégep students and staff receiving first priority for the spaces. The childcare centre will include an indoor swimming pool, a library, and a food forest during the summer months. Students in the cégep’s early childhood education program will have the opportunity to teach children at the centre and will also be able to use an observation room with one-way glass to learn to observe interactions between children and educators.
