Cégeps announce new programs, QC suggests more on the horizon for regional cégeps

Several cégeps will be offering new programming in the coming year. L’Hebdo du St-Maurice reports that Cégep de Shawinigan will be implementing a new education program – Techniques d’éducation spécialisée – as an attestation d’études collégiales this Fall and as a diplôme d’études collégiales in the Fall of 2023. Cégep de Sept-Îles will be offering a short-term engineering program for employees of manufacturing companies who wish to upgrade their skills. Government of Quebec Minister of Higher Education Danielle McCann told the Journal de Montréal that “several [regional] cégeps” will offer new programs in the near future, as part of an effort to improve the institutions’ vitality. The student mobility program, which aims to attract urban students to regional cégeps, will also be improved.
