In an article for BCcampus, Gwen Nguyen discusses the value of constructing learner personas when designing for e-learning. Personas – characters that reflect real users’ goals, attitudes, and experiences – help guide decision-making during the design process by keeping learners’ needs and perspective in focus. To build personas, Nguyen recommends going through discovery and immersion phases involving quantitative and qualitative research, connecting with learners to better understand their feelings and experiences, constructing the personas, and then taking a step back to understand learners and their world. To this end, Nguyen provides a variety of resources that other developers can use to construct personas. BCcampus Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
