Douglas College has announced that it will be building a new $292.5M student housing and academic building, thanks to funding from the Government of British Columbia. 808 Royal will house over 350 students in one, two, and four-bed units. Additionally, the building will house new classrooms, student collaboration space, labs and offices, and food services. It will also have two rooftop parks with Indigenous flora and traditional medicinal plants. The building will be designed to secure certifications such as LEED gold certification, Rick Hansen accessibility certification, and zero-carbon certification, and will be constructed using natural products.
