Fanshawe cuts ties with Paul Haggis after civil case

Fanshawe College has cut its ties with filmmaker and alumnus Paul Haggis. The London Free Press and Global News report that the decision was announced after Haggis was ordered to pay damages in a recent New York civil case in which a publicist accused him of sexual assault. Fanshawe made the decision to cancel a scholarship named after Haggis, remove all images and references to Haggis on its campus and website, and revoke an honorary diploma that was awarded to him in 2006. “Fanshawe College strongly condemns any type of sexual violence,” read a statement released by school officials.
