Institutions might be able to use student housing as a revenue stream while supporting students: Opinion

As students find it increasingly difficult to find safe and affordable housing, universities are exploring ways to secure or build more accommodations to address the situation, writes Frances Bula of University Affairs. Bula says that the influx of international students has exacerbated the student housing crisis, and that more suites are needed for those who want to live on campus. Suite style housing, with only one person staying in a room with a private bathroom, is becoming increasingly sought after even if the spaces are small. Bula discusses how institutions may be able to use student housing strategically as a revenue stream and how they might best meet student needs with functional designs.
