Institutions receive federal support for early learning, childcare projects

The Government of Canada has announced $27.4M in federal funding to support 16 early learning and childcare projects across Canada, several of which involve postsecondary institutions and researchers. These projects focus on improving early learning and childcare service delivery, and the federal government gave special consideration to those with a focus on cultural diversity and inclusion or serving children and families with diverse needs. The University of British Columbia received over $1.29M to research outdoor play intervention with 10 early learning and childcare sites. The Carrefour francophone de Sudbury has received over $506K to lead a project in collaboration with Collège Boréal’s Centre d’innovation sociale pour l’enfant et la famille that will focus on providing early childhood centres with ecology-focused learning experiences.
