Memorial University has announced that it will be creating a new Centre for Artificial Intelligence at its St John’s campus. The centre will host AI-focused outreach and continuing education activities, and will be a collaborative space that brings AI-related researchers and students together. Contributions from the federal government ($995K), Government of Newfoundland and Labrador ($432K), and Memorial ($498K) will support the completion of a classroom and active learning space that will serve as a collaborative hub. “The new Memorial Centre for Artificial Intelligence will provide the highly skilled people needed to move [the emerging tech sector] forward and address the demands of a sector that will have an increasing impact on our daily lives,” said Memorial President Dr Vianne Timmons.
