Mohawk College and the University of Toronto have both recently launched new certificate programs. Mohawk launched a Public Health Nursing Ontario College Graduate Certificate Program, which the college says is the first of its kind in Canada. The program provides new nursing graduates and established nurses in the workforce with the skills and knowledge needed to work in public health. “Many Continuing Education programs are geared towards the local or Ontario workforce,” explained Mohawk instructor Ruth Schofield, “but this program is geared for the national workforce in public health organizations.” U of T’s Rotman School of Management launched a certificate program to prepare non-business program graduates for careers in business. Students in the Rotman Business Readiness Certificate complete three six-week courses to earn their Business Readiness Certificate.
