Research projects out of the University of Saskatchewan and University of Waterloo have received sizable funding from federal bodies recently. The Saskatchewan Centre for Patient-Oriented Research (SCPOR) based out of USask has received a $12.6M grant from the CIHR and matching funding from partners to support the centre’s next phase of research. Meanwhile, a UWaterloo project focused on enhancing Canada’s search and rescue system has received $2.1M from the Government of Canada. UWaterloo will work in seven provinces, including in two Indigenous communities, to improve the process for locating missing people with dementia, build understanding of people living with dementia, foster research partnerships, and more.
