NL creates needs-based grants to support ECE training

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador has created a new Early Childhood Education Needs-Based Incentive Grant to help meet the growing demand for qualified early childhood educators. The grant will be applicable to students enrolled in a full-time Early Childhood Education Certificate or Early Childhood Education Diploma at College of the North Atlantic, Keyin College, or Academy Canada. Students will receive a grant of up to $10K depending on their assessed need. “As we enter a time of significant transformation in the early learning and child care sector, we know that there is significant need to increase our early childhood education workforce,” said NL Minister of Education John Haggie. “Through actions like this new non-repayable grant and the ongoing wage grid process, we are ensuring that early childhood education is a career worth pursuing and keeping.” NL Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
