NOSM University has received $10M from the FDC Foundation of Mississauga to support physician training in Northern Ontario. The funds will be used to provide dollar-for-dollar matching for gifts made toward student financial aid. The gift is the initial contribution for a $50M Student Endowment Fund that will focus on enabling students who may face socio-economic barriers to education to become physicians. “Alleviating our student debt burden is our best shot at recruiting the most diverse and motivated future physicians for Northern Ontario,” said NOSM U President Dr Sarita Verma. “At NOSM University, integrity is the foundation of everything we do. Social accountability is in our DNA; equity, diversity and inclusion have been our aim. Raising funds for our students is proof of our commitment to social justice.” TB News Watch Note: Archived stories may contain dead links or be missing source links.
